As the AI era accelerates the pace of information and fragments audience attention, media professionals face growing challenges in capturing social trends and delivering truth with speed and precision. In 2025, CommonWealth Magazine partnered with Taiwan AI Labs to launch the AI Hub — an intelligent editing system supported by Google Taiwan’s News Digital Co-Prosperity Fund under the nDX Digital Innovation Program. The initiative automates editorial workflows, allowing journalists to focus on what matters most — quality journalism.
Jointly developed by CommonWealth Magazine and Taiwan AI Labs, AI Hub aims to become a world-leading AI collaboration platform for media. Built on Taiwan AI Labs’ federated learning architecture, the system helps establish an Agentic AI platform without accessing or collecting media data. It connects to CommonWealth’s extensive archive — more than 40 years of in-depth reports, over 40,000 articles, and 200 million Chinese characters — using only fully licensed content to train AI assistants tailored for newsroom needs. The platform is deployed on-premises, ensuring that all data remains within CommonWealth’s internal servers and preventing any sensitive information from leaking.
Both organizations believe that AI Hub will enhance efficiency while empowering creativity, enabling quality journalism to reach audiences faster and deeper. Co-CEOs Wan Yu Wu and Yun Yeh noted:“The role of AI is to help journalists return to the essence of journalism — understanding the world and telling great stories.”
On the technical front, AI Hub adopts FedGPT, Taiwan AI Labs’ Agentic AI platform, focusing on three core functions:
- Creative tools that enhance editorial innovation
- Workflow optimization from drafting to publishing
- A scalable architecture for future AI applications
The system will progressively roll out 15 AI Agents across the editorial pipeline — from topic ideation and interview material organization to headline generation, SEO/AEO keyword optimization, and more. Through human-AI collaboration, machines handle technical editing tasks while journalists concentrate on gathering first-hand information and storytelling.
Security and trust are central to AI Hub’s design. All operations are deployed on-premises, with data stored exclusively on internal servers. This setup allows AI to operate in a fully controlled environment, ensuring cybersecurity and enabling real-time retrieval and citation of CommonWealth’s content database.
Rigorous testing and continuous optimization ensure that AI Hub performs reliably in newsroom conditions, maintaining high standards of quality and credibility. A built-in “Guardian” content protection mechanism acts as a gatekeeper, automatically filtering hate speech, discrimination, and inappropriate language to uphold journalistic ethics and brand integrity.
These capabilities transform AI into a journalist’s “second thinking engine”, helping uncover stories hidden in data and insights emerging from trends.

CommonWealth Magazine and Taiwan AI Labs envision AI Hub not just as a tool but as a thinking partner for the newsroom. As CommonWealth emphasizes:“AI should amplify human value. Through AI Hub, we want journalists to think, create, and express more freely. This is the true spirit of media digital transformation.”
