Taiwan AI Labs Partners with U.S. Defense Technology Provider DS Federal; Taiwan-Developed Sovereign AI Architecture Selected for Inclusion in the U.S. Defense Industrial Supply Chain
As democratic nations worldwide accelerate the development of AI governance and data sovereignty frameworks, Taiwan AI Labs today announced an expanded partnership with U.S.-based technology services company DS Federal. Through this collaboration, Taiwan-developed Federated Learning technology will be deployed in U.S. government and defense-related applications, demonstrating Taiwan’s growing role in the global democratic technology supply chain.
DS Federal’s federated AI platform, DSFed™, is built upon Taiwan AI Labs’ proprietary Federated Learning architecture. The technology enables multiple organizations to collaboratively train and utilize AI models while keeping data within their respective institutions, thereby preserving data privacy and security.
In 2025, DSFed™ successfully passed the competitive evaluation process of the Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace, operated by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO), and was designated as an “Awardable” solution.
Tradewinds serves as a key acquisition platform for accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and machine learning technologies across the U.S. Department of Defense. Evaluation criteria include innovation, scalability, and potential mission value to the DoD. Receiving Awardable status signifies that a solution has successfully passed technical and operational value assessments and is eligible for consideration by U.S. government and defense organizations for procurement and deployment.
This partnership marks the first time that a Federated AI technology architecture developed by a Taiwanese team has entered the U.S. Department of Defense AI ecosystem through a U.S. defense contractor. It highlights the potential for deeper Taiwan–U.S. collaboration in Trustworthy AI, data governance, and Sovereign AI.

As one of the United States’ leading AI strategy and technology events, the 2026 AI+ Expo brought together representatives from government, defense, healthcare, academia, and the technology industry to discuss AI’s impact on national security, supply chain resilience, and governance frameworks.
During the exhibition, ABC 7 News (Washington) interviewed representatives from Taiwan AI Labs and DS Federal, focusing on Taiwan’s growing role in the global AI ecosystem. The report highlighted how Taiwan is addressing challenges related to privacy protection, data governance, and system security through innovations such as Trustworthy AI and Federated Learning, while building an AI development model that balances innovation with data sovereignty.
ABC 7 News also examined how Taiwan is strengthening technology cooperation with the United States while advancing resilient and secure AI infrastructure. The report noted that Taiwan is not only a critical hub in the global semiconductor supply chain, but is also emerging as an important force in advancing responsible AI and AI governance, offering a new model that balances innovation, privacy, and trust in the development of artificial intelligence.
